About Mrs. Katy Corey
I am originally from Syracuse, NY where I graduated from Le Moyne College. Not only did I work hard to become a teacher, but I earned a degree in English Literature. I LOVE to read! I also have my Masters in School Leadership from Wilmington University and hope to someday become a principal. This 2017-18 school year marks my eleventh year as a teacher at Carrie Downie and I am proud to be a part of the Dolphin family!
Some of my favorite things to do include spending time with my family, reading, playing volleyball, running, and singing. I enjoy baseball and I love to watch Syracuse Basketball and Football!
I have an 12 year old daughter, Ceili (pronounced kay-lee), and a 5 year old son, Colin. Ceili loves to read everything. She Irish dances and plays volleyball and lacrosse. Colin is my boisterous boy- he keeps me on my toes. Colin loves to play outside, enjoys reading and playing with his trains, and adores his big sister.
Being a teacher means a lot to me. I see our students as not only the future, but the present of our
world. Their successes are of the utmost importance. Seeing the growth that occurs from day one to the very last day of school is one of the most rewarding things in a teacher’s life. My students are like my family, they teach me new things every day and I am proud of their accomplishments. I will value them, I will challenge them, I will keep them safe, and I will always welcome them with open arms into the world of learning.
I am excited to work with all of your children this school year!
